Solomon Systech Announces Grand Opening at Hong Kong Science Park

Marks Milestone for Global Expansion

(Hong Kong – February 24, 2004) – Solomon Systech Limited (“Solomon Systech” / the “Company”), a leading one-stop flat panel display integrated circuit (“IC”) solutions provider, announced the inauguration of its headquarters in the Hong Kong Science Park (“HKSP”) today.

 

Solomon Systech specializes in the design, development and sale of proprietary IC solutions. Established in 1999, it has rapidly become a major player in the flat panel display IC industry, providing one-stop solutions on a worldwide basis under its own brand name. With its global insight and advanced design capabilities, the Company has been able to maintain a real edge in this fast-moving industry.

 

Being a knowledge-based company leaded by highly experienced management, Solomon Systech now stands as a global leader in the cellular phone display IC sector, shipping more than 70 million display ICs in 2003. According to IDC, global shipments of cellular phones amounted to approximately 427.1 million handsets in 2002.

 

“The relocation to HKSP marks a key milestone in our business expansion and shows our long-term commitment to the hi-tech industry.” Mr. Humphrey Leung, President and Managing Director of Solomon Systech, said at the opening ceremony. “With larger offices of around 30,000 sq. ft. at HKSP, we will be able to hire more professionals, to bring in more new ideas and introduce more new IC products, enabling us to keep abreast of the rapid growth in the international display IC market.”

 

Mr. Henry Tang, GBS, JP, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, honored guest and speaker at the grand opening of the Company, said, “I am pleased to witness the achievement of Solomon Systech; originating from Hong Kong, the Company has rapidly established itself as a globally recognized company. Leveraging the diverse talents, solid infrastructures as well as sound intellectual property protection, the Government is committed to supporting cutting-edge R&D activities and developing Hong Kong as an international hub for high-tech companies.”

 

Solomon Systech currently consists over 150 employees worldwide with over 110 people based in Hong Kong. The team boasts sophisticated abilities across all mainstream and emerging display technologies, including STN, CSTN, TFT LCD and OLED display, along with special expertise in low power and high functionality integration, meeting the needs of global customers across a huge variety of applications.

 

Having adopted a “fabless” business model, Solomon Systech is wholly committed to design, research and product development, with the production process being outsourced to stringently selected manufacturers. To ensure product quality, the Company develops its in-house testing hardware and software, and employs quality management system to oversee the entire manufacturing process.

 

In view of the world’s escalating high-tech communications, demand for flat panel display solutions will soar, allowing Solomon Systech to capture the huge opportunities in securing market leadership. “Apart from our established innovations, we are now diversifying into new area such as large screen displays for LCD TVs, computer monitors, notebooks and the other high-tech consumer products.” Mr. Leung said.
